The organizers of the newly formed political party, National Citizen Party (NCP), have invited all the advisers, including Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, to their inauguration ceremony.
In addition, almost all the parties involved in the July uprising, including BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, have been invited.
The National Citizen Party is being formed under the initiative of the National Citizen Committee, which led the movement to overthrow the Awami League government, and the Baisommya Birodhi Chatra Andolon (Anti-Discrimination Student Movement). The organizers have indicated that the inauguration ceremony will witness a large gathering.
According to the primary organizer of the National Citizen Committee, Sarjis Alam, leaders from various political parties, diplomats, members of martyr families from the July mass uprising, injured activists, and expatriates who played a crucial role in the movement will be present at the event.
Moreover, people from all walks of life, students, and general public who actively participated in the July uprising will also take part, the organizers have confirmed.
Invitations have been sent to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Secretary-General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, and senior leaders such as Salahuddin Ahmed from the Standing Committee. Jamaat’s Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has also been invited, along with 36 other political parties. However, no invitations have been sent to membe rs of the 14-party alliance that was part of the ruling Awami League government. Additionally, ambassadors, high commissioners, and diplomats from 51 countries based in Dhaka have also been invited.
On Friday (February 28), the National Citizen Party’s (NCP) inauguration event will be held at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital. The night before (Thursday, February 27), the leaders of NCP handed over invitation letters to the head of the government at Jamuna.
The invitation was presented by Baisommya Birodhi Chatra Andolon’s coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud, along with coordinator Nusrat Tabassum and the joint secretary of the National Citizen Committee, SM Saif Mustafiz Pradhan.
After handing over the invitation to the head of the government, Coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud stated, “We have started inviting political parties to the inauguration event. We have also invited the chief adviser and all other advisers. We aim to invite all the political parties that participated in the anti-fascism movement.”
It has been reported that the National Citizen Party’s full committee may consist of 151 members. However, an initial committee will be announced tomorrow. The inauguration event will begin at 3 PM on Friday with the recitation of the Holy Quran and other religious texts. After that, speeches will be given by families of martyrs and injured individuals from the July uprising. A documentary on the July uprising will also be shown during the ceremony.
